Tarzana Treatment Centers Expands Integrated Primary and Behavioral Health Care in LA County

The multifaceted program now connects primary care, mental health services, and medication support at eight Los Angeles County locations.

TARZANA, CA, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Tarzana Treatment Centers (TTC) is expanding its Integrated Care program, which integrates primary care, behavioral health services, and medication support throughout Los Angeles County. Since its 2025 launch, the program has served more than 1,000 individuals and grown from one clinician to eight, including two nurse practitioners who provide medication management.

The program operates at eight TTC locations that serve communities in the San Fernando Valley, Antelope Valley, and Long Beach. Its coordinated approach helps patients access mental health services through primary care and supports transitions between levels of care.

Developed in 2024, the initiative began as a pilot at TTC’s Northridge and Reseda primary care clinics. It expanded to multiple primary care locations in mid-2025 in response to community needs and limited behavioral health resources.

“Our goal is to eliminate barriers to treatment by creating a seamless experience for patients,” said Lorraine Ragosta and Karry Friedman of TTC in a joint statement. “By integrating behavioral health services within primary care settings, we’re making it easier for individuals and families to receive the support they need when they need it.”

Integrated primary and behavioral health care brings physical and mental health services together in a coordinated treatment process. At TTC, primary care visits include screening for behavioral health concerns. A coordinated care team then connects patients with appropriate services, including medication management when needed.

The program uses established treatment criteria and session durations to guide care. Integration with TTC’s electronic health record system supports communication among providers, enabling primary care and behavioral health teams to coordinate services within the same organization.

For patients whose needs change over time, the model also bridges specialty mental health treatment and ongoing primary care support. Patients who no longer need the same intensity of specialty services can transition to a lower level of care while maintaining treatment connections.

TTC plans to strengthen these transition pathways as the program evolves. Additional priorities include expanding youth-focused behavioral health services, increasing access in the Antelope Valley, and extending integrated care support to residential patients.

The expansion builds on TTC’s approach to treating physical health, mental health, and substance use concerns together. By connecting services across its care network, the organization aims to make treatment easier for individuals and families to navigate throughout the communities it serves.
